RANDOLPH BAZEMORE
CLASS OF 1968
Randolph Bazemore was a pitcher on the Shaw University Baseball team for four years.
When he displayed his blazing fastball during his freshman year.
Several teammates began calling him
"Blazing Baze."
When he crashed a two-run homerr during his sophomore year, they stared calling him "Blazing Blasting Baze."
Bazemore used his terrific fastball and his deep-breaking curve ball
to make solid contributions to the Bear's success during his tenue at Shaw,
including being a member of the CIAA Championship team.
Since his graduation, he has given strong support to his Alma Mater.
He is a loyal member of the Raleigh/Wake Alumni Chapter, and a Lifetime Member of the National Alumni Association.
He is a member of the Millennium Club, and has provided funds fot the naming and furninshing of a room
or office in historic Estey Hall in honor of his late wife,
Rosa Riddick Bazemore .
He has received the NAA's Elijah Shaw Meritorious Service Award, and recognition of "Distinguished Alumnus" award
from the National Association for Equal Opportunity in High Educarion (NAFEO).
Basemore has completed 33 years of federal service with the U. S. Department of Labor's
Wage and Hour Division in the Raleigh District Office, with the exception of two and one-half years
that he served in the U.S. Army.
Randolph Bazemore was welcomed to the membership of the Shaw University Athletic Hall of Fame, November 15th, 2001.
